2016 in Review

Wow, it’s seems like just yesterday that we started 100 Women and here we are, weeks away, giving away our third round of funding!

There is nothing better than getting that tingling feeling at our grants celebration evenings when you hear about the amazing projects we are giving to and thinking “We created this, we started this from scratch, this funding didn’t exist before a group of everyday Australians came together to pool our time, expertise and money.” You can’t beat that feeling!

So how did we go in 2016!  Here’s a quick look at what was achieved.

– Started the year with the Grants Celebration to give away our 2015 funding of $100,000 to three amazing organisations – Telethon Kids Institute, Classroom of Hope and Cambodian Children’s Fund
– 100 Women received a heartfelt letter from Cambodian Children’s Fund about the difference our $40,000 grant will make!
– Hosted our End of Financial Year Celebration with our legal partner, Norton Rose Fulbright on the highly motivating topic of the power of leadership with our Ambassador, Rabia Siddique.
– Received nearly 60 applications for our 2016 funding round and presented five outstanding projects to our members for voting.
– 10 members joined the Grants Sub Committee in 2017 to review grant applications and lead the grant making process.
– Two of our 2014 projects have been successfully completed  – Zonta House Refuge and Opportunity International.
– Honourable Liza Harvey hosted Advisory Board members at Parliament House to share more with colleagues about 100 Women.
– Hosted an inspirational event with the founder of Cambodian Children’s Fund, Scott Neeson and heard about the terrific work of the Child Protection Unit in Cambodia.
– We welcomed some highly skilled and qualified 100 Women members to the Advisory Board and Ambassador, Erica Smyth nominated Board members, Kristy Rodwell and Grace Mugabe for the AICD NFP Director of the Year awards.
– Launched our own Members-only Facebook group for members to meet, discuss and learn online.
– Generosity Mag profiled 100 Women in an article on collective giving.
– We welcomed new members, mini circles and two new Ambassadors in Tenille Bentley and Barb de Corti.
– Brilliant supporters such as Professor Lyn Beazley and Sue van Leeuwen shared why they supported 100 Women

Again  – 100% of your donation went to the causes chosen.   We may be a small organisation but our impact is far-reaching!

New friends were made, learning was had, most importantly, women and children were empowered because of your giving.

thank-you2016

So what’s to come in 2017!

Here’s a sneak peek of what to look out for:
An awe-inspiring Grants Celebration event in early February.  Get your tickets quick.
– A new membership registration portal making it easier to join and renew.
– A wonderful line up of 2017 events to inspire and educate.
– This month, Ambassador, Rabia Siddique and I will be meeting with the Governor, Kerry Sanderson to share more about 100 Women and how we can increase philanthropy in WA in 2017.

And that’s just the start!

Why not make 2017 the year you become a member of 100 Women!
