We are delighted to announce the appointment of three new Trustee Board Members this month Ariel Bastian based in Perth, Mitra Khakbaz in Brisbane and Jane Cormack in Sydney.

The new 100 Women Board appointments have come about after a strategic shift from the Board to expand awareness as a national giving circle.
Ariel Bastian will assume the role of Company Secretary with fellow Board Member Bianca Starcevich moving into the Vice Chair role.
Ariel is a corporate commercial lawyer with significant governance and advisory experience in the not-for-profit sector. Ariel is currently working at Jackson McDonald, and was previously Legal Counsel for Business News WA, Silver Chain Group and AnglicareSA.
Ariel immediately connected with the vision of 100 Women and joined the organisation as a volunteer with the New Horizons committee, focusing on fundraising and sustainability. Ariel is deeply committed to the community sector and has been a practicing philanthropist since childhood.

Jane Cormack is a seasoned product and marketing professional, specialising in digital transformation programmes. With over fifteen years’ working in senior leadership roles in Australia and the UK, Jane has directed major initiatives in organisations like Fairfax Media, the British Business Bank and Tata Steel UK.
Most recently, she has been working on tech solutions to improve gender equity in the workplace as Chief Product Officer for WORK180 and is currently Roadmap Director at Macquarie Bank. She previously served on the Board for the Scottish youth charity, Light Up Learning and holds both an MBA from The Open University UK and a Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communications) from The University of Sydney.

Mitra Khakbaz
Mitra Khakbaz has more than 20 years of experience in senior leadership roles in the humanitarian and development sectors.
She is currently the Deputy CEO of HOST International servicing delivery programs across Asia Pacific including Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand.
In 2013 Mitra was awarded a Churchill Fellowship. Her research focused on identifying best practices in assisting women with multiple vulnerabilities from diverse backgrounds into employment and economic independence. This learning journey influenced her focus on social and economic inclusion of women and communities they are part of.

Since 2014, 100 Women have invested more than $1 million in financial grants to 34 grassroots initiatives across nine countries, impacting almost 35,000 women and girls.
In the US, giving circles as a type of philanthropy, are on the rise and here in Australia, philanthropic organisations are gearing up for a similar occurrence as the Baby Boomer generation gets ready to transfer their wealth down in the next decade.
100 Women are unique in that financial grants are provided to initiatives that can be local, national and international and the members therefore have the opportunity to apply funding where the need is most critical.
The new Board appointments will replace Sarah Baghsaw and Taliah Payne as Directors.
